- A heat dome moving from North Africa is set to bring a final spell of summer warmth to the UK over the coming week, with temperatures reaching up to 24C.
- While northern areas will experience some cloud and scattered showers on Monday, the south is expected to be largely warm and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 23C, according to the Met Office .
- Peak temperatures of 24C are expected on Tuesday in London and the south east, with sunshine continuing across the south and south west on Wednesday.
- The Met Office said that the change would be caused by “a deep area of low pressure” that was likely to “drag warmer air up from the continent and subtropical Atlantic”.
- Forecasters warned that the warmer period could also be cut short by the expected arrival of a colder front from the west, the timing of which remains uncertain.
