Many games spend years in Early Access before a full game hits the market. A very good example of it is none other than "Valheim."
The game has been on Steam's Early access since 2021. Five years later, the full release is finally upon the fans who have been eagerly waiting.
Here's what you have to know about "Valheim" before its official full release.
'Valheim'
"Valheim" is a survival game set in the tenth world of Norse mythology. According to the official Valheim website, players take the role of a Viking warrior who has died in battle and been sent to Valheim by the Valkyries. Their task is to defeat the monsters banished there by Odin and prove themselves worthy of entering Valhalla.
Players explore "Valheim's" procedurally generated world while gathering resources, building settlements, crafting equipment, and fighting mythical creatures. Each biome has its own boss, with defeating these powerful enemies allowing players to progress further into the realm. "Valheim" is developed by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, with Coffee Stain also supporting the studio with publishing and business operations.
Release Date and Platforms
After five long years in Early Access, the full game is set to release on September 9, 2026.
It is set to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The PC version will be available through Steam, Humble, the Microsoft Store, and the Mac App Store for Mac.

For the PC version of "Valheim," the following minimum system requirements should be met to run the game:

Gameplay
"Valheim" combines survival, exploration, crafting, and combat in a procedurally generated world. Players gather resources, craft weapons and tools, build settlements, grow crops, and sail across the seas to discover new areas. According to the official Valheim website, each biome offers different enemies, resources, and environmental challenges.
Combat uses stamina-based mechanics, with players able to block, dodge, parry, and use different weapon types. Players can also fight powerful biome bosses, with victories unlocking rewards and allowing progression into more dangerous areas.
"Valheim" supports solo play or cooperative multiplayer for up to 10 players.
Editions and Pricing
Only one standard edition will be released for the full "Valheim" game. This means that there will be no deluxe or premium editions at launch.
The game will cost $29.99, with regional prices varying by market. Existing Early Access owners will receive the 1.0 version as an update at no additional cost.
