HISTORICAL FACTS: Why the national lottery thunderball and euromillions draw was delayed tonight march 15 - The Untold Story

The announcement of tonight's Thunderball and £33m Euromillions draws had to be delayed after a fire broke in the studios of National Lottery operator Camelot.

The blaze, the extent of which is not known, led to the 8pm live-stream of the Thunderball numbers being put back by nearly an hour.

The incident took place in the main studio, meaning staff had to be evacuated and a secondary site used. You can follow our live coverage of the draw here.

A statement on the National Lottery Twitter account read: "This evening’s Thunderball draw was carried out at our secondary draw site due to a fire at the main studio which resulted in an evacuation. As a result, there was no live draw video on YouTube."

The winning Thunderball numbers - 16, 18, 23, 26, 30 and 3 - were finally called at around 8.50pm, potentially winning someone a £500,000 jackpot. Meanwhile, the life-changing Euromillions result was announced shortly afterwards, the winning numbers being 1, 2, 12, 19 and 26, along with Lucky Stars 2 and 8.
