It predicts your movement locally so your controls feel snappy.

If the server receives your movement data late and realizes you hit a wall two frames ago, it rewinds your position to match what actually happened. That split-second correction is what causes rubber-banding.

Before buying new computer hardware, try these basic maintenance steps first:

Clear background software: Web browsers such as Google Chrome consume huge amounts of system memory (RAM). Turning them off makes your processor free up the resources it requires to achieve the high number of frames per second.

Use an Ethernet cable: Wi-Fi signals lose packets all the time, even on a high-speed home network. Random lag spikes are completely eliminated with a physical cable.

Get graphics driver updates directly: Nvidia and AMD provide driver updates that are optimised for cutting-edge games. Old drivers can cost you 10-20% of your performance.
