Hello psychologist to be here (in my masters) what ppl dont understand about autism is that they do see things very different from us. They can also take things VERY literally n miss social cues. While on the surface for us who are neurotypical what he did was "TA" however he isnt neruotypical and missed the sarcasm/joke in wife's tone. He took it *literally* that isnt his fault. Wife knows he is on spectum n should have taken that into account n spoke direct to him "i get you are excited for this but i need you here with me please" this was miscommunication that coulda been avoided.

Everyone the a*s here: 1. You picking a place you KNEW she wouldnt get to eat at was unfair even if its your bday. For context my mom if GF/DF we also have it where the bday person chooses dinner (either out or home meal). We still ensure anything picked is something she can do too so she can be fully included. 2. She was TA for changing plans without asking and coulda helped you to find a place for you both. 3. She was also TA for making stuff she knows you dont like and changing recipes you do like. 4. Your TA for not at least trying some of it. Not a vegan either but i have noted sometimes the alternatives arent that bad (again learned to like some GF/DF meals) Id recommend you both talk about your relationship as having this much of a differing dietary preference may not work long term.

Think my fam hired your fam to redo our garage to a family room xD a 2-3 week job took 5+. Work for a few hrs a day 3 maybe 4 days a week. Weeks of them just not coming (2 different weeks everyone got the flu). They finally got it "done" in may (was supposed to be done feb) save the ac unit. Week after week it was put off. We finally told em forget it n got other ppl to install it. No word back from the first person/vroup but fam wants money back given they took longer than planned by a LOT didnt finish and the paint job was not great

Its never easy especially if they "child" is older. It can be harder to adapt to changes in dynamics and usually requires therapy which can also be hard if the older child is refusing to even try to work with the changes.

Light YTA. You dont have to babysit if you arent comfortable with it. However your dad was willing to negotiate with you which is rare in these situations. He offered payments even stated it didnt have to be all the time. Again you dont have to babysit at all but to just fully shut him down when he is trying to work with you isnt fair to him either. Blending families and changing dynamics isnt easy especially when your older. I hope you can find it in you to try n make even a small relationship work with them

It's so a simple scenario. The Golden Child sister had two miscarrieges (this part is really sad), she never liked OP's late-wife. When she passed, sister saw the oppurtinity to bully his brother in giving up parental rights over his daughter. She started with trying to bond with the daughter, and trying to (wo)mansplain OP about rising a child. When it didn't work, she dropped the CPS-bomb. I bet, she called OP's daughter a name, what she previously choosed for her own unborned children.

This puzzled me on Reddit with the original post, but I have the sneaking suspicion you're right and that's why his "niece" is coming that weekend come h*ll or high water and he can't get out of it. Also why she had to clean up the apartment, can't have daughter reporting back to mommy it was filthy! Good catch.
