But what happens when the price of a burger goes up from $2.5 to $17.5? And your managers make $500K, would you still be flipping burgers or will you start to become more ambitious?

I saw this in a video. Basically, if someone grabs your bat, you aren't swinging it fast enough

what make you think those hypothetical aliens wouldn't have gone through the same stage, and recognize immediately that microplastic deposits are a normal concomitant of civilization?

Just imagine that hundreds of thousands of years in the future, when we are long gone, aliens will visit earth and discover there was once an intelligent species on the planet, as evidenced by the microplastic in everything. Nothing else will have survived, no buildings, nothing, just microplastic. And since that can't form naturally, there must have been a species who made them. What a wonderful legacy... :(

Grades don't mean anything. There could be a wide variety of reasons as to why he performed poorly. If all those people would go through the trouble of recommending him, he must had something good about him. The admissions committee made a poor call in this case.

I understand where he's coming from. An old colleague joined the company just so she could go on maternity leave after a month.

Also, plenty of people won´t be great at story telling (doing essays) and that doesn´t mean sh*t for the ability in their field of choice. As I understand in the US they somehow only choose what learn after already being in the university for a while (? ) and if so maybe that´s why they do it this way... but plenty of people in the healthcare fields, the "hard sciences" (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc), most engineers, architects and so on will never have to be good on producing essays or articles or wtv to be great at their job. It´s selecting them based on a skill that will never ever matter in any way or form for their ability to do a good job and be a good student.

All these posts make me feel that US universities put so much needless effort of useless letters. Kid was confident in his grades and/or other strengths rather that whining something on paper that, according to other posts on this thread, are direct evidence against them or, worse, mocked at.

Standard procedure to have an cray for stomach problems? This seems like a ripoff. Like seriously.
