Half of the homes on the plains of the US look like this as they are surrounded by trees where the wind always blows. In the winter those trees keep the 12 foot drifts from blocking your front door. In the spring they choke the dirt thrown up from every farmer plowing so your whole home isn't covered in a layer of dust. In the summer when the ground around the home is radiating the heat back at you, they provide shade and as well as transpiration cooling. The act of photosynthesis as the trees suck water up the branches and release it into the air lowers the temperature of your home several degrees. Most importantly, until you've spent time somewhere where the wind blows incessantly for months at a time, you can't really comprehend how much it destroys your soul because you never get quiet. Those trees save marriages by providing a temporary reprieve.

The only relationship between volcanic lava flows and climate change is that eruptions do far more damage to the atmosphere than humans could ever hope to. Examples? Krakatoa, Mount Pinatubo, El Chichon, and even Thera (Santorini, Greece) -- which lead to the myth of Atlantis -- are just a few of the volcanoes that have caused rapid and significant cooling and/or warming that eclipse the relatively puny input by humans by orders of magnitude.
