Safadasht zoo is an Iranian zoo that horribly mistreated and killed a zebra. You can research it if you want to know more. I don't.

Long story short, this particular zoo procured 3 zebras from the Netherlands back in May, and by the end of the week, 1 had already died. There was video footage of the animals being mistreated, and the official response was basically, (and I'm paraphrasing), "we paid for them, we can do whatever we want with them, it's none of the public's business."

Yup the height of cruelty was that they were literally laughing in the video like they were enjoying a comedy show.

It happened this year : It's about an incidence when an Zebra was tortured in the above mentioned zoo by Iranian zoo keepers as they didn't know how to handle it... Another one died due to the torture.
