Nope, what’s odd is how often you’ve been told the groomzilla and horrible FIL, Dad stories exist but continue to insist “We only ever see stories about bridezillas and horrible MIL, never groomzillas [BTW that IS a term in active use] or horrible FIL”, which makes it a you issue as I’ve certainly seen both, including here on BP. I can only deduce you deliberately avoid them in order to satisfy your cognitive bias.

Suggest you do some actual research. “Black tie” rules are very specific for men: formal evening suit (tuxedo) in black or dark navy, white shirt, black bow tie, black waist coat or cummerbund. The rules for women’s clothing tend to be less rigid in terms of colour/style of dress typically ranging from cocktail (below the knee) to full length evening gowns. Any diversion from these rules in terms of broadening the colour palette for men is “formal dress” and requires more explanation because the rules aren’t as clear. The entire point of “white tie”, “black tie” definitions is that they are intentionally restrictive.

I don’t believe this one. No CSR would remove the discount only. They’d remove the entire address, which would cancel service to that address. Two reasons: for her protection because she’s liable for bills on her account even if it’s not her using the service, she and, therefore, we are no longer allowed to use his address because she cannot agree to services on his behalf anymore, that includes services he previously agreed to. Here’s the kicker, if the router or modem was a rental, and he didn’t return it, she’d be charged for the cost of it, even as an employee.

I think the point was not that she wouldn't have 'healed' but that she would be still be undergoing intensive therapy to restore as much function as possible. I have a friend, another ski instructor I did a course with a few years ago, who broke his back in a paragliding accident about 9 months ago. Paralysed from the waist down, but I see his updates on Facebook. He just got out of hospital a couple of weeks ago, a shedload more rehab including more hospital spells scheduled. And although I have no idea of what meds he's on, I don;'t think driving is even in the equation yet.

There is no bro code. It just gets pushed by manipulative men who try to grasp at straws to control others and get naive men to side with them over a woman using a sexist premise.

The same kind of men who try to invoke the bro code, would never honour it themselves.

That's a lesson I had to learn over and over in my youth before it stuck.

The examples in the comments are just examples of people being good friends and not some universal thing between men.

There’s a lot of good use of AI. Don’t blame the tool for people misusing it. And you basically made my point for me. Some companies tried firing 90% of their programming and IT department, only to discover the hard way that there’s so much emotional intelligence and intuition that goes into writing code that a machine can’t replicate. Good software only works when it is designed for people. Just about everyone I know hates IVR (interactive voice response) because it follows rules, it can’t offer the flexibility a human can. It’s no wonder that almost all IVR’s now offer “speak to a person” as a valid response.

What trillion dollar problem is AI trying to solve? Money laundering, bank fraud, better weather predictions, medical diagnoses, just to mention a few. AI and computers process data in volumes that the vast majority of people can’t. Unlike people, AI can use decades of information to actively compare a situation to historical data… accurately. Ask anyone who works in IT, the most flawed, prone to errors components in every system are the people who use them. We literally have to code to prevent people from doing dumb stuff because humans aren’t great at following the rules precisely every single time. AI is. It doesn’t get tired. It doesn’t have a bad day. So long as the hardware and software are functioning correctly, it works. However, and this is really important, AI cannot and will never replace people. It’s not effective at solving problems that require true emotional intelligence, deep common sense, moral reasoning, or handling unprecedented situations with zero historical data. It’s incapable of making intuitive leaps. It can’t create, it can only reproduce.

Eh, I vaguely remember reading the original post on Reddit. Don’t recall why the job was so urgent, but I think BF was getting a lot of money being willing to do it during the holidays, right before New Year’s Day. I also think he was doing 3-4 normal days’ work in 2 and made it crystal clear he was there to work. IIRC, she made plans behind his back, then got mad when he said he didn’t have time, constantly complained about his lack of attention, and made advances after midnight when he had to get back to work by 6AM (or had to get up by then). In all fairness, she was stupid. The agreement was if she came with, it was up to her to find things to do for herself - she didn’t, and got pıssed at him for not having time for her when he’d clearly said beforehand he wouldn’t have time for her. Besides, Jellybean has the right of it: no, means no. I don’t care what gender is involved, we all have the right to say, “no” without the other person pouting about it.

I get where BF is coming from, he’s upset that the other person’s gift is larger than his - a lot of guys are hung up on size (/jk for those who may think I’m being serious). What he might not get is there are different levels of emotional effort. A good friend of mine crochets while watching TV or when stressed. She finds it soothing. Even if she didn’t give away what she has made, she’d still crochet. Literally, a near mindless thing she does to ease stress. I have the feeling that GF put a lot more thought into the “box of a million pieces”, carefully choosing pictures to show how much she loves being together, and she knows his favourite candy. Folks often overlook the little things such as knowing what your partner’s favourites are without needing to be told.

Weird. I also have astigmatism, but only in one eye. I’m used to getting eye prescriptions that are hard to pin down in terms of focus but colour isn’t an issue. Aside from the fact that I can only see for up to 10 seconds with my left eye alone. My comment was actually about having brilliant scintilla on the left that was diagnosed as macular degeneration when it was a torn retina. Guess I did a poor job of explaining that the tests don’t work great for oddities.

I craft a lot, including knitting. For knitters, there’s a saying, if you want to break up with your boyfriend, knit him a sweater so she may have considered it bad luck. As well, many people knit for something to do while watching tv but then they have stuff to give away.

I’m so glad that the concept of fault in divorce has been abandoned here. When a relationship is over, it’s over; either everyone is to blame, or no one is. No one is obliged to love anyone except their children, nor in any particular way. If alimony is owed, it is because one person has sacrificed something for the marriage. Forcing them to remain faithful so as not to lose money is nothing short of state-enforced p**********n esit: especially in constellations like these, when a honest partner is tricked into fault.

It isn't cheating if it is agreed-upon within the parameters of the relationship. Granted, a court may not see it that way, but by agreeing and misleading his wife, OP is the only one at fault. Floating the idea of an open marriage was something he found hurtful coming from his wife, but did not put her at fault as long as she respected whatever decision they came to together, which she did.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again and again until some jurisdiction starts listening. DNA/paternity test ALL babies! Normalize and destigmatize the process so that it’s just part of the myriad tests babies go through to determine existing and potential health risks based on genetics. Every woman knows that she gestated that baby. Men can’t have the same level of certainty. If you’re a feminist, according to seeking equality, they deserve the same level of certainty that is naturally yours. If we take “requesting a paternity test” out of the equation, the only people who fear the outcome are cheating.

Productivising is better known as productizing and refers to the process of transitioning highly customized services, physical goods or ideas into a structured, scalable, repeatable product. These people started an agency of some description that offered business services, sounds like coding of some sort, but not physical goods. They identified the most popular service/s, packaged it/them with a fixed scope and price (eliminating a lot of customization). Example: Building responsive web interfaces and mobile app screens based on established design systems - the service provider doesn’t need to know anything about the customer or brand, the customer doesn’t need to know anything about coding, corporate users simply access the software via login over internet, import their images and content, and select layouts from the available options that the software supports.
