You know how when you look at any lightbulb, you can see an afterimage for a while? Yesterday, I learned that a total eclipse (IMPORTANT: *TOTAL* eclipse) is so dim, it won't even create an afterimage visible with your eyes open. Those glasses are so dark, you can barely see anything at all during totality. I guess the government-perceived danger is that people will look at the sun as it exits totality? (The glasses were ABSOLUTELY necessary during the partially eclipsed phases... I got a split-second eyeful accidentally just before totality while trying to get a camera picture and having the glasses more on the camera than on my eyes. Certainly no more dangerous than having the sun pop out from behind something you're looking at during normal conditions, but also certainly something you want to avoid.)

It was a 30 minute walk and by the time I got there I was soaked to the skin and got sent home to get changed and come back to school (Our towns schools had a hard on for reporting you to child welfare for the dumbest reasons) My mom told them she isn't going to spend the day washing a rapidly growing pile of wet clothes and if they reported her she would be down the school with a hammer and a big bag of rusty nails and she would nail each effing teacher she came across to the wall by their ears. Shortly after it stopped raining and I asked if I should go back to school to which my mom replied "F*ck 'em"

Not me but my sister. One of her high school classmates was extremely chilled guy, made everybody laugh all the time and was late every day. One morning this old strict teacher interogated him about it. He mumbled one sentence, which she didn't understand, so she mimicked him like: "muguahuhuaua" he raised arms and went back at her "MUGUAHUAHUAHA." Their class almost died laughing.
