Someone Asks People To Share The Harsh Truths About Marriage, And 43 Deliver

48 years here as well. We've been through the same challenges as you. We made it with retail and teaching careers. Lots of humor, lots of being content, and yes, faith in Jesus----not the Jesus of "running the church, " but the Jesus of seeking out friends and neighbors in need and showing His love to them. We praise God for our marriage every day.

Christianity has gotten people embroiled in so many philosophical./theological arguments over many centuries. On the whole, not too many people spend much of their lives arguing philosophy. People get sick of it. (Well, maybe not in current times) Being Christ-like, on the other hand. involves studying the scriptures to determine the nature of Christ and then live out the day-to-day situations as Christ might have. Feeding the hungry, helping the sick, and encouraging the downtrodden does not require a verbal discourse, only sincere compassion and actual action. Sounds simple, but consider that Christ was crucified because the religious leaders of the time were more interested in keeping their arguments going than actually helping the average Joe.

Toyota does a fairly good job with customer satisfaction. They get pissed off if you want to pay cash or refuse needless options, but I've bought 8 or 9 vehicles from the same dealer over the decades. The worst was Al Packer Ford. We were newly married, broke, and the salesman refused to talk to us.

Lack of self control is dangerous, not credit cards. I have one that I use for everything, and get cash back for using it. I pay the balance off each month, so no interest accrues, plus the credit card company is good with the record keeping so I don't have to.
