Library science Ph.D. here. Yes, but Chinese typographical elements were wooden, and allowed only for bigger characters and broke down after a few uses. The torque was also different, less efficient. Other people in Italy, Germany, and France were experimenting with the same ideas of Guttemberg, in the same years, but had less success. The true great innovation brought forth by G. was in THE ALLOY used for the typographical elements: soft enough to not cut through paper, yet resistant enough to be reused thousand of times.

For the millionth bloody time! Vaccines don’t prevent you getting a virus, they simply prep your immune system with antibodies to fight it and thus weaken the effects. Similarly, ordinary face masks don’t protect you from infection unless everyone is wearing them because the primary intent is to limit others’ exposure to your exhalations. The reason smallpox, tuberculosis, measles and polio have been almost eradicated in cultures where we’re vaccinated against them isn’t because the virus no longer exists. It’s because just about everyone has the antibodies to minimize and weaken the virus. How do we know? Anywhere there’s a proportionally significant population of antivaxxers, there have been outbreaks of formerly “eradicated” diseases. I actually blame the scientists as much as the idiots. The intelligent people need to stop saying that vaccines eradicate the disease, they don’t. They simply make it possible to contract the virus with minimal effect because your body knows how to fight the disease before it multiplies to a detrimental degree.

Pandering to a small minority - still well under 1% - is woke brain rot. Promoting the rights of women is not a bad thing. I will never believe in promoting a minority at the expense of a majority; accommodate them as far as possible, by all means, but just to wipe out the equality that women have gained over the past 50 years (and it's by no means complete) seems very wrong indeed. Israel have behaved appallingly, no question about that. However, they were instituted as a sovereign country in 1948, and have every right to exist - as does Palestine, and they haven't behaved well either. I never said Palestinian civilians were guilty, nor was I interchanging them with Hamas. I said quite clearly that Hamas is causing all this s**t. It does matter how it started because Israel is defending their homeland. They're not the ones that are using the Palestinian people, especially the children, as human shields.
