This is an excellent piece of advice, and probably the most important thing to remember is that COMMUNICATION IS KEY. These steps she wrote down work for HER, and if you know someone with a similar disorder, talk with them about what works for THEM. Many of the items suggested here (especially the meds part) can be considered almost universal but quiet, calm, patient communication is always key.

You are misrepresenting the bipolar community. While I don't want to speak for them I would like to correct some of your ideas. Having bipolar did does not mean you are the hulk or Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It's actually really bad to stereotype people because they might not be honest about their mental health. Please educate yourself about this.

The difference between normal anxiety and an anxiety *disorder* is that it's a broken fight-or-flight response. The wiring that says "hey, this is a kind of uncomfortable situation" gets exaggerated into something bigger and harder to deal, often with just as many physical symptoms as mental ones. It's not just "unnecessary baggage" and in some cases, it can only be treated through a medication. But someone with anxiety isn't going to "go all out bipolar and kill him" or whatever terrible thing you're thinking; they're honestly more likely to just leave the building or cry because you're upset, thinking it's their fault. You're probably associating something like paranoid schizophrenia (an actual mental disorder that really can cause people to "snap" and harm others) with *all* mental disorders, and that's a very, very harmful way to look at things. Not just for others, but yourself as well; life will never be as simple as "get a new ___", even if though you seem to think so.

If you look up the definition on the internet, bipolar disorder is alternating periods of elation and depression, not someone who randomly goes psychotic and starts killing people.
