I had to have the fuel line on my Corolla replaced because some little critter found it delicious! The mechanic said that the lines are being made with soy (or something like that) and suggested peppermint oil. I need to do it because I do NOT want to have to replace it again!

My coworker has a kid with severe food allergies who *gasp* takes responsibility as a parent instead of expecting the entire world to revolve around him! She knows exactly what candy her kid can eat and then, after they go trick or treating - because he wants to join in the fun, of course! - she lets him trade the stuff in his bucket for stuff she has on hand that won't hurt him.

OHMYGOSH!! So, a few years ago, the sunroof flew off of my Nissan Rogue. Like, I was driving down the highway and it just went *shoop* and flew off the top of the car. I was a few hours from home, with my son, so we went by a Dollar General and bought some trash bags and Gorilla Tape, thinking we'd tape the bags over the hole for the ride home. The trash bags didn't fit, so he basically layered the tape over the hole. It was still on there, without having leaked, when I sold the car NINE MONTHS LATER! So, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that it would work on a tire, too! (I'm TOTALLY kidding! Well, about putting it on a tire. The sunroof story is 100% true!)

My dad shaved his beard off when I was about five and I cried when I saw him. He grew it back and never shaved it off again! (Which is good because he definitely looked better with a beard! He kind of looked like a turtle without it!)

While it's not nearly as dramatic as this story, my husband got sober five and a half years ago when, after about 15 years of him drinking on the sly, I said, "I won't divorce you but, if you want to drink, you'll have to go live somewhere else. Our home warranty has been invaluable! We started it about 3 or 4 years ago because every summer our AC unit would go out and need something fixed. The $100 deductible was way better than looking at a $500 or $600 bill every summer. It paid off just a couple of months ago when the home warranty company replaced our unit. It's a combo unit - heat and a/c in one unit - and there was about $1,900 of out-of-pocket expenses, but that beat the heck out of paying, like, $9,000! (Of course, we had to borrow the $1,900 from my MOM, but oh well! We have a/c and are working on paying her back!)

My boyfriend’s father was underground comic artist “Foolbert Sturgeon,” or Frank Stack, who did “The Adventures of Jesus” and illustrated some “American Splendor.” Very interesting.
