I run a shelter for stray and abandoned animals. Despite the random ugliness we face or hear about in the world, I still believe in the goodness of the human heart.

True story. I am with my yorkie in my apartment building's elevator. A new tenant comes in and checks me up and down with the sourest look ever known to humans. She must be over 70 and looks well off. No "good morning", no "hello", no "hey", she just blurts out: "Why don't you have children?" I reluctantly decide to engage: "I can't have children". She is not moved at all. She smirks: "So where are you taking this?! *points at my dog*. Daycare?" I rated this 10/10 as evil encounters go.

Ok, provided some illnesses have been ruled out first. My aunt was old and fat, but she also had a brain tumour.

I daresay it's possible she thought the man was squeezing a cat to death.

So, I've noticed that in these questions there's one - this one, actually - that serves PR agencies and we are the test audience.

Especially after the 2020's and the COVID era? If we don't say anything or somehow show them they're too close we are under-reacting.
