I may be wrong but I have a feeling that there was this sweet spot between 1980 and like 2010 where the diversity in media was just... no big deal, with people's minds not yet poisoned by those culture war soldiers. For example film-bros love to push Ripley from Alien as peak female character, unlike the modern "SJW DEI woke females", but don't tell me that a sci-fi movie where a bad@ss butch woman outsmarts all her male companions and ends up as a sole survivor wouldn't be absolutely TORN APART if released today.

My kids were picking up some misogynistic ideas from the world around them that I have been actively trying to dispel. We ended up getting her a stuffed animal because everyone loves stuffed animals.

It's OK to give serious consideration before embarking on parenthood, whether it be a higher risk of issues, money problems, or simply not being equipped. It's not wrong to sit down and say, I'm going to put some thought into this. I wish more people did. My husband and I have 4 serious, lifelong conditions between us. The chance of having kids with one or more is quite high. We decided for our sake AND the sake of the kid, it would be wrong to have children, and it's OK to decide that.

Adding the 'ma' to make it a question - 'how are you?' - is, indeed, textbook type Chinese and no Chinese person would say it in the context of casual greeting.

I worked in call centres for nearly 20 years. This job needs to die. It's incredibly difficult to do and maintain any kind of mental health. BEEP. Some complaint about something which you try your best to resolve. BEEP. Next complaint. 8 hours a day of negativity, tethered to a phone. I'm convinced it's obliterated my short term memory, because I trained myself to forget the last call and focus on the current one. It's also ruined my short-term memory.
