I am a 39 year old female plumber, from a drinking town with a fishing problem. Cape Cod Massachusetts USA. I don’t care for Trump or much nonsense, including but limited to propaganda of any kind. My favorite posts on BP are weird facts and curiosity. My absolute least favorite threads are the Am I The Ahole articles. Thumbs way down on that one. I love every type of animal, but Boxer dogs hold my heart strings, for now. Guitar is my life, Poetry in my language, forking shift up is my Job.

This picture is one of the most heartbreaking that I have seen once you know where it came from
This innocent child smiling for a picture is Istvan Reiner. The original picture would have been in black and white but it was brought to life and colourised by Tom Marshall who is a picture restorer. The picture was taken at Auschwitz concentration camp. Just a few weeks later Istvan would be m*rdered in the gas chamber.
What makes this truly heartbreaking is his innocence. He does not know the fate which awaits him. We often see pictures of the atrocities carried out during WW2 but seeing them in colour makes it more real, that little boy could be mine or your’ son and that is truly heartbreaking.
