The body is designed to resist starvation. So, when you reduce calorie intake the body responds by reducing the amount of fat you burn, unless you are literally on a starvation diet. When eating rises above starvation levels, then the body responds by storing more of your intake than happens for someone who never had an overweight issue. Fat storage tissue is determined by genetics, childhood feeding, early diet etc. Then it is affected by illness, mental health, medication etc. Exercise really doesn't get much of a look in.

For the last time, you can exercise and eat well and still be overweight. GLP-1's are a tool not a quick fix. You still have to eat right and exercise to maintain weight loss. For some of us, the injections have "corrected" what wasn't working within our bodies that held onto weight. I have lost 7 pounds in 6 weeks, slow and steady. Will we ever live in a time where you can just be in the body you have? I have had abuse hurled at me from strangers about losing weight and so now that I'm losing weight with the help of an injection, that isn't good enough either? Make up you're mind for why you hate me today and let me get on with it. As an aside, if you have never carried weight that is NOT from overeating, then sit down, shut up and be grateful that you don't have to live the nightmare that is being overweight in this society.

You know, despite any downsides, I will never regret owning a dog. I don't mind what I have to give up for them. That's my choice. My dog happens to be a service dog so we're together 24/7. I can't imagine life without her. Yes, there is lots of fur all over the place. Yes, she sometimes misses the potty pads. Severe health issues some years ago took what little savings I have. Do I regret nursing her back to health? Not in the least. There is a certain mindset you have to have to own a dog. If things bother you too much, maybe you've got the wrong breed. Maybe you didn't research enough about what was involved. It's a choice.

Honestly? Thank y'all. I got a permanent sterilization at the age of 23, because I thought I'd never be ready for children after experiencing all kinds of violence in my family as a child. After therapies, settling down, stabilising myself, I'm now almost 35 and started thinking about having children recently. When I got that sterilization, it was rather that I wanted to have full control over my body after being abused for so long, I guess. After reading this, I don't think I will have children like this. The risk of getting re-traumatized seems too high. So...if I really come to the decision that I want some small human in my life, it'll be a foster kid. .. something husband and I also considered an option before the surgery 11 years ago.
