I appreciate these posts. I have a teen. We do not make fun of the people posting but we do talk about what she sees on insta isn't what she should or even could look like

I don't really mind people who photoshop, but I do hate when they do it and are trying to sell you something. Like "Check out how great this make-up works," yeah, can't tell so you video/photo is useless and misleading. Or "I work out and give life style advice, buy all these supplements." No, it is just leading to false expectations. I mean, I get it though, you get more traffic when you photoshop so it is kind of like athletes dosing to win, if you don't do it then you will lose out to the competitors. Consumers mock this sort of thing and say they want it to stop, but when people started to flock to instagram instead of reading magazines, who got the followers and who didn't? We say we don't want photoshop but that is a lie. We want to be lied to, that if we just do x, y, and z we can achieve these unrealistic body standards and suddenly not have any pores anymore, line free faces, and tiny waists.

The entire society (especially the misogynistic, patriarchal and sexist sides of it) , as a whole is to be blamed for this. These people have been pressured to be posting a version of themselves that isn't even real anymore... :( I hope they get help and love themselves as they are one say. I don't blame them for doing this. I think the pressure must be tremendous to be even changing the most natural things like skin, facial features and hips ://
