Sir Christopher Lee (who played Saruman) was the only member of The Lord of the Rings movie cast to have personally met author J.R.R. Tolkien. The chance, brief encounter happened in a pub in Oxford, specifically The Eagle and Child, during the 1950s, leaving a stunned Lee almost unable to speak to his literary hero. Lifelong Fan: Lee was an avid fan who read The Lord of the Rings annually, and he was, in fact, the only cast member to have read the book before being cast. While visiting the pub, a friend told Lee that Tolkien had walked in. Lee described Tolkien as a "benign looking man, smoking a pipe, walking in, an English countryman with earth under his feet". Lee met the author by chance, making him the only actor to have directly met the creator of the world they were filming. Sir Christopher Lee spent one of his final nights rewatching The Lord of the Rings in the hospital at age 93. When he noticed one of the films was on TV, he suggested putting it on.

My husband brought home a plant that was given to him - an oakleaf hydrangea. I took one sniff of the bloom and out of the blue I thought immediately of my grandparents. I thought they must have had some of these at their house. I went digging through photos and found one of their house and all along the one side under the bedroom windows were oakleaf hydrangeas. I must have smelled them all of the time when I stayed there which was often.

I have a weird boney bump on my forehead. It has been there for a couple of years. I recently had and mri for an unrelated issue, which included my head so I asked about the bump. They said that it was bone. I looked it up and apparently it is a known thing that does happen -- sometimes as a result of an injury. You can get them removed but not necessary. I have bangs that pretty well hide it. The only injury I can recall is hitting my head (so hard I actually saw stars) on a hanging ceramic pot right about in the same spot where the bump is. But, that was about 35 years ago and the bump has only been there for a couple of years. Weird...
