Yup... we had many guests who experienced tides for the first time. In fact, the day I started as a volunteer there was also the first time I saw an actual low tide. Many were like "oh, thats what it looks like", "oh, the sea is gone FOR REAL, how awesome", a few like "oh no, so this week high tide is in the early morning, so either swim or sleep longer, darn...". Also we had others who found it complicated to live on 2 schedules (clock and moon) but eventually accepted it and just asked us every morning. But this one. JUST this one. Blew our minds, demanding we played God for her vacation.

The temptation would be to start chattering like magpies, laughing behind one's hands, pointing at Karen. I love it when white Texans go Karen for this reason. I guess they never learned that most of the Texas area was part of Mexico a LONG time before it was part of the US.

have yet to meet a karen/darren in the wild. but, i am ready for it should it happen. one concern is that since sarcasm is my mother tongue that anything i say will not be understood. the second concern is that i may witness a karen abusing someone as i can't tolerate that and would have to intervene - especially if it was an older person or a child.

Do Americans honestly not remember what we (theoretically) learned in school? There is NO official language in the US, just like there is no official religion. Ffs people, if you're going to 'defend your country' at least get your history and facts straight. Oh, better idea! Yeah so my manager was useless as tits on a bull. I called him to ask him to talk to her and her berated me for interrupting his meeting and was like "you mean to tell me you need me to leave what I'm doing because you can't handle a customer issue... the most basic component of your job" and then hung up. I actively despised him.

This was more of pay attention to where you are. I get it all the time when someone tries to return something in another store's package with a receipt from that store and swears the bought it in mine.

Honestly-- because I have been in a position of waiting hours to return something for a few dollars before... even if you seem on the outsude to be doing okay sometimes you aren't. She also had severe arthritis in her hands which in combination with her age made me assume she probably was on a fixed income. While waiting on the computer she also was pretty grateful-- seemed relieved. While I would never get angry at someone trying to help me, I could understand how the process could seem a little daunting, especially over such little cash back. I know my great-gran would be iffy about sales people asking for her phone number, to me if isn't unusual but an older gen sometimes it seems weird. There is no excuse for violence but I did wonder if there may have been something more causing her to act that way. I didn't appreciate a jar at my face nor did i like being accused of being abusive but when people act do irrationally, I have to assume there's stuff I can't see.
