In a story I have been working on, I have a character who uses they/them pronouns. I grew up learning that if you write a sentence with using they or them, you should write it a certain way (ex. 'they were running across the field' rather than 'he was running across the field'). I was just wondering which one is correct, and what is most respectful for people using they/them pronouns. It's a weird question, I know, but I wanted to make sure I was writing them correctly.
