Might not be a popular opinion but I think Madonna is over rated. Sure she's good at publicity and performance. But the music itself is pretty average.

We could debate what "superior" even means, but they both had significant impacts on music. The Beatles (like many other artists) started out being heavily influenced by people like Chuck Berry (who might be considered as superior as one of the early pioneers of rock) before becoming more innovative. Queen were more innovative right out of the gate.

If nothing else Phil Collins (or at least his recording engineer) gave us the gated rum sound that was huge in the 80's. Other than some good music did George Michael give us anything that mattered?

This actually depends on the type of music. Classical is amazing on vinyl, but most things are better on streaming.
