oooh! the same happened to me! I'd been there through 15 years for my absolute best friend -through his partner's s*****e, many depressions, bad financial decisions, encouragements, in short, through everything. I was always supportive in every way that I could (time, money, etc.). meanwhile, really bad stuff had happened to me, but I rarely asked for anything or any support. until my life fell apart, went through a bad depression and finally got diagnosed with C-PTSD. for him, my diagnostic came too late, and he said I wasn't doing enough to get out of depression. after not sticking around to help me, he ghosted me. it's been 5 years and I've only seen him from afar once or twice. I finally don't miss his immature a*s anymore.

My mom does this thing where she remembers my youth way different than it happned, mostly to protect her psyche I think. So really I don't hide anything from her so much as I don't confront her with the awful reality of it all, how many emotional problems she saddled me with, how unprepared for life she left me.

I mean don't get me wrong, I want to. But I just don't see what good it'd do.

Knowing what I know now, 25 years later, I'd kill myself like I wanted to, before life got in the way. I'd know that the fleeting moments of happiness aren't worth it, that it won't get better, just worse, and that the pain is there to stay and become unbearable. I'd do it before I felt responsible for anyone or anything.

Shut up. I am still going on vacation next week and you will not stop me. Although, I am driving rather than flying, renting a house rather staying in a hotel, avoiding crowds and staying close to said house as much as possible. BUT AT LEAST I WILL HAVE SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO LOOK AT EVERYDAY AND I WON'T BE WORKING.
