snape comforting the guy with VOLDEMORT ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD does not automatically make him the good guy, especially after he's spent years verbally abusing children. Even if james potter put hexes on him, they were in self-defense; in the books, we learn that snape was trying to put ACTUAL CURSES on the mauraders. Not to mention he was an a*****e who felt entitled to Lilly and called her slurs. (I'm really crazy about all this, sorry) SNAPE IS A D**K
