Our Lady of Guadaloupe has nothing to do with the crucifixion or Jebus. She is supposed to be the virgin mary, based on her reported appearance to an indegenous peasant named Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531, who apparently took too much peyote. How she got from Bethlehem to Mexico is still unknown.

Tipping in restaurants and cafes in France is not required, as !5% is automatically added to the bill. So you tip even if you get lousy service.
Yeah, just saw it. I stand corrected. My opinion was colored by watching Gangs of New York, after which I assumed all of Five Points was Irish. Photo was taken in 1900, which is supposedly when most of the Irish started leaving the neighborhood.
