You have to apply before being granted: maybe Turkey just doesn't ask that often?
I have no reason to get emotional over kids (especially girls) wanting to be astronauts again, but I do😭 I distinctly remember being a kid in class, and the teacher asking everyone what we wanted to be when we grow up. I said astronaut (I was like 7), and g*****n the teacher lectured me over how it's impossible and how it's a "boy" thing. Over a decade later, we had the first woman to have went further than anyone ever had, and I'm sure that the Artemis II mission inspired kids to become astronauts again. They were once kids who dreamed about it too.
