It is very complicated to explain the real genesis of the legend of Romeo and Juliet. William Shakespeare took inspiration from a novel that took inspiration from a ballad that a storyteller sang here in Verona at the time. Actually, this is the antique house of the real Cappelletti family (Capuleti). In the last centuries the house was transformed in a poor hostel and only in the 40's restored in the form that you can see now. The balcony never existed before that restoration, as they took some stones from the ruins of a 14th century palace. Even if I don't care too much and knowing that almost everithing is fake, passing near there like every week, I can still feel that love is in the air!
