Let’s remember that it wasn’t too long ago that a carton of eggs cost almost nothing! So she truly did stick to basics. If she’d come back with candy or something else not needed it would’ve been time to put up some serious limits.

Seems unlikely someone said this in seriousness. But I did hear someone say half of what we learn is wrong. Not the same thing though. We are learning so much more all the time and often when we learn something we find out what we thought before was wrong.

Let’s keep in mind, that if she had come to his door, polite and apologetic and offered him $50 in compensation and asked if he could please move his car briefly he probably would have moved it right away. If he was real difficult, she could offer $100 and ask nicely again. If he was an a……e she could have called the police, explained her mistake/poor choice and they would have tried to convince him. Then, if he continued to be difficult, she could call the city and maybe small claims court. But I would be suprised if it ever got past $50. Often it is not what you do. It is how you do it!

That is pre-1995, and especially in the past 15 years there is a plethora of data for women. And even pre-1995, its not lack of data for women, but lack of data for women pre-menopause because most global testing regulations at the time (In the US, Europe, etc) had rules about not testing women who could become pregnant or were pregnant, as a safety issue, and any testing involving them required a waver per person, which was expensive. So the studies were mostly men or older women. But that has changed and this claim is out of date

See, I would have given it to the older daughter because she took her husband's name. It's easier for the men's male descendants to trace their lineage because they don't often change their family name, it's harder for women so having a book would make it easier. But that's just me and my overthinking, lol. ETA I was also raised by grandparents that weren't my biological grandparents, but left their step grandchildren the same equal share as their biological ones when they passed, so they have absolutely altered the way I personally think of family.

The most effective deterrent is the thought that cops MIGHT be there, so then people stop letting their dogs run off lead all the time instead of just when they see a police presence. No, it wasn't. Sorry about that. I meant that even if it were an acceptable practice, you don't pour booze down the kid's throat. A child's liver can't oxidize alcohol as fast as that of an adult. If the baby had lost consciousness and couldn't be awakened, there's really no way of knowing if he was sleeping it off, or dying of alcohol poisoning.

First, lose the "boomer" tag. Age never explains, much less justifies, stupid behavior. Second, MIL had a superiority issue. "I'll do as I see fit, regardless of what the parents want." It would have served her right if OP and then-husband went extremely low contact with her. Third, you don't give booze to a teething child to drink, you dip a soft cloth in it and rub it on their gums. MIL should have known that. Fourth, had she gotten involved in an accident and her grandchild was in her lap at the time, what would have been Grandma's excuse? Honestly, some people!
