I had something like that happen to me once. I have a male name that can be pronounced 2 different ways. I've had men all my life not believe me when I tell them my name (it's horrible, no woman would ever lie about it). The best one though was when I answered the phone at work and said my name. The man on line says to me, "oh, you meant to say..." , and uses the other pronunciation of my name to correct me on MY OWN NAME!
My aunt told me my hyperemesis, which I had both times, was all in my mind. It was simply the power of suggestion because I knew my mother had it when she was pregnant with me and my sister. Never have I wanted to slap someone so bad. She's lucky I was too dizzy, and nauseous.

Funny how when I get home that's the FIRST thing I take off.
Sadly I've had women tell me my endometriosis could have been treated with Vitamin B rather than ending in a hysterectomy when I was 39. WOMEN. So much more disappointing than men.
