Pugs are an old breed. They used to have a longer snout. You can blame the kennel clubs here and in the UK for creating the "rose" face. It's been a huge disservice to the breed. Ask anyone who's dealt with collapsed trachea or pug myelopathy. It's heartbreaking. Even worse, these dogs end up dumped into shelters ill equipt to deal with seniors. Ever since things like MIB and other cultural nonsense have made them super popular. Breeders and backyard breeders are doing a disservice to an amazing breed of dog.

I love how it looks and think dogs are great. The sad thing is that many pugs have breathing problems and genetic diseases that make them die younger than normal because of the inbreeding necessary to create 'pure breeds'
