There was a sweet spot in the late 90s when practical effects, model building was coupled with restrained CGI to create some amazing results. Titanic is a great example of the blend. The effects still look better than many modern films.

My friend works in the film industry and trust me it's mental how much work goes into these shots. Even 30 seconds with of actual film can take hours even days in production.

I was a senior in highschool when this came out and every girl in my class was bragging about how many times they went to go see it at the theatre. You really had to be there at the age and the time to understand how popular that movie was. Naturally, I waited until it was on home release and watched it once. This comment is not meant as a slight to this young woman at all - I am very impressed by her intelligence and tenacity to even attempt to build a robot. However, isn’t it amazing how the U.S. was able to do a moon landing in the 1960’s and yet humans still cannot create robots to complete simplistic tasks? I’m the first admit I do not have any knowledge in this field, I am just amazed at how complex the moon landing was and yet mankind can’t achieve some smaller tasks.
