The tree will die as its trunk thickens enough to crush its own vascular tissue within the post and cut off its sap flow from the roots. Only chance to survive is if a sucker grows from ground level outside the post, Anna Thouvenin, trees cannot just grow taller without the trunk thickening as new growth cells are produced just under the bark. The centre of all tree branches and trunks is simply dead wood, this tree will never split this post down its full length unless the post is flawed. Unlike engineers, horticulturists are the life of any party! 🤣
