I think the gray area here is if the request was reasonable. I'd argue that it was not. There is no mention of the "mean girls" actually doing anything to her. They had just begun to distance themselves from her. Distance how? There's no name calling, no accusations of bullying. It sounds like they made friends with the roommate and we're starting not to prefer her company. The roommate is allowed to invite her friends over. You can't tell your paying roommate they cannot have their friends over. Throwing a fit because you didn't get your way is unreasonable. The mere sight of people she's known since grade school is suddenly panic inducing? Is it panic inducing because these friends not trigger panic attacks or because she didn't get her way? What other reasonable requests was she making that impeded on the roommates use of her own home? Is it reasonable to impose constraints on your roommate? Most people who have panic attacks don't stand in a group of people.. they hide.

Stuff like that is absolutely normal and it's part of being mature. When you share a home with another person you don't get to dictate to them who they can have over. The roommate had her friends over, which we can see from the story she had made friends with that group of friends. It comes off as "if they're not going to come over to see me they can't see you either." That's not okay. She doesn't have the ability to impose that demand on her roommate. She did the right thing when she moved out, but I hope she paid her part of the rent because I would take her to small claims court if she didn't.

But the people who write these "malicious compliance" posts also always sound like they're trying way too hard to be "malicious.". I mean, ok, he made it super spicy. But, he describes it as if he was the most clever person on earth to do so. "This guy was such a bragger. Braggers are such jerks. I don't know, I've eaten Korean food all my life. And that's not even the hot one, Thai food is even worse. I don't see personally how this was spicy, but for a guy who traveled the world eating the hottest foods available he apparently never visited India or Asia. Lol hats off to the chef, the guy deserved what he got.
