DH saw MIL/FIL this weekend for FIL’s birthday. He went to their house and spent the night. Both are JN’s, but JNMIL is the drama stirrer as my DH was her substitute husband/emotional confidante when their marriage got rocky. Obviously when I came into the picture, she lost her [mind].
DH told me the ONLY things JNMIL asked about was my job. What I’m doing, who I’m working for, etc. Mind you, I have been self employed for almost a year, running a small business, and I do contract work on the side for people locally, all of which JNMIL is aware of. I’ve only had 2 jobs since DH and I got together, which JNMIL made frequent comments about me “job hopping.”
DH repeatedly reminded her I’m self-employed and do contract work on the side, which has always been the arrangement. She acted stunned as if she didn’t realize my small business was “actually a business” and that I’m “working for so many different people”
BTW, JNMIL barely worked herself, and despite not having a job, had a house keeper and had meals delivered every night while DH was a child. So it’s really rich coming from her.
