As temperatures drop and the nights get colder, your duvet could make all the difference between a cosy night’s sleep and shivering under the covers. One thing worth paying attention to is its tog rating, which stands for thermal overall grade and tells you how well a duvet traps heat.
Contrary to what you might think, tog isn’t a measure of thickness or weight. Instead, “the higher the tog, the more heat it traps and therefore the warmer the sleeping environment,” explains Hannah Shore, head of sleep science at Mattress Online.
