Flash floods: 3,000 tourists stranded in Lachen, Lachung in Sikkim

GANGTOK: Over 3,000 tourists are stranded in Lachen and Lachung, situated in the Mangan district of Sikkim, following a flash flood that severed all road connections. Officials have confirmed their safety on Saturday.

Over 2,400 stranded tourists evacuated from North Sikkim after landslip, no permit to be issued to tourists for time being: DC

Altogether 2,464 stranded tourists were rescued from North Sikkim after they were stuck in Lachen and Lachung areas following a massive landslip. Meanwhile, no fresh permits will be issued to tourists in view of weather-related vagaries and restoration works underway.
