America’s influence around the world remains undeniable, whether through films, music, or consumer brands. However, many facets of its culture may seem confusing to those outside the United States.

This was a recent topic of discussion in a Threads post where someone asked about American habits and customs that British people might find weird. Some were baffled by the healthcare-related bankruptcies, while others questioned the obsession with weapons and the military.

For other non-Americans with similar sentiments, feel free to voice them in the comments below.

Just because we pay into coverage doesn't mean the company okays the treatment. They can deny payment if they think it's unnecessary, even if a doctor says it's needed. They make you jump through lots of steps until they deem they'll pay when you spent a certain amount of money for bogus stuff that wasn't helpful.

Folks, you also can choose products that are neither. You can buy real cheese that tastes like it’s supposed to, and bread that is just like yours at home. All versions are available to you, so your argument holds no weight—-which is another point. Not all Americans are overweight. Most aren’t, in fact. It’s just that, when you compare the numbers that the percentage represents—-and the percentage is not all that different than the percentages in other developed countries—-the fact that we have such a huge population makes the numbers look scary big to people from way smaller countries (the entire populations of which may be smaller than just the percentage of Americans with weight issues). It does NOT mean the percentage in America is any different than the percentages elsewhere. Don’t confuse percentages and the actual numbers they represent, when talking about countries with WAY different population totals.

Again, you need to take into account the SIZE and distances between cities in the US. Yes, in the tri-state area around New York City, with so many people commuting to jobs on that tiny island, you HAVE to have decent public transportation. However, they also drive their personal cars to the train station. If they don’t live in the city, they need their cars. Granted, traffic jams and exhaust aren’t a sustainable alternative. But right now, it’s all we have. Come up with a feasible solution, or invent a cleaner alternative, and the majority will use it, believe me, and we’ll work on bringing the knuckledraggers into the 21st Century as well.
