Domestic cats love to play, this applies particularly to kittens who enjoy chasing toys and play fighting. Play fighting between kittens is more than just entertainment and can be a way for them to practice and learn skills for hunting and fighting.

Cats and humans have been closely associated for nearly 10000 years. The Ancient Egyptians held cats in the highest regard, and there were severe penalties for injuring or killing a cat. They even worshipped a Cat Goddess whom they called Bastet. 

Most people refer to all felines as cats or kittens depending on the age - but this is not the proper terminology. A group of cats is called a clowder, a male cat is called a tom, a female cat is called a molly or queen while young cats are called kittens.

You might not think of your silly cat as a vicious predator but felines are natural hunters. When they walk, their back paws step in almost exactly the same place as the front paws do in order to minimize noise and limit visible tracks. Cats have powerful night vision, excellent hearing and a powerful sense of smell.

We have come to associate purring with contentment when it comes to cats, but turns out just because a cat is purring doesn’t mean the cat is happy. Cats usually make this sound when they’re content, but they also purr when they’re sick, stressed, hurt, or giving birth. So the next time your funny cat purrs they may be trying to tell you something.
