I come every fall, like a scent, like a prayer.
I'm floating-no, drifting through the air.
People might say I'm overused, I don't care
The nutmeg haters better beware.

I'm on pies and in coffees, in candles and such
To the naked eye, I might not look like much
But the smell will give you a little nudge
Of capitalist autumn's overwhelming touch.

Those with hyperosmia scream in fear
The coffee-drinkers let out a cheer
Summer's ended, now I'm in the clear
Autumn's arrived, baby, and so I'm here.
