when I was growing up there was a couple about 3 or 4 streets down that were married and had the exact same name as my parents. Imagine Mr Bob Smith and Mrs Jane Smith live on street A and down on street D Mr Bob Smith and Mrs Jane Smith also reside. It was always funny when my parent's got their mail, until one day the police knocked because of some issue... then it wasn't so funny anymore

My d**g was héroin, but for a year and a half, I was a******d to shoôting up m**h as well. And although I lost everything to H (been clean for 15 years), m**h is the most insane drûg I've ever used. My heartfelt condolences on your loss. As I approach my own destiny in the next 10-30 years, I'm much more concerned about the effect on my family than about my own passing. I certainly could be wrong, but I personally believe many if not most people who are in their late 70s-80s feel this way. My parents and grandparents seemed fine with the inevitable. I know I am, I'm very happy with my life. It sounds like your mother was blessed with a quiet passing.

I'm in the generation that transitioned to a mobile society in the US. Some of the most important memories I have are annual family reunions, weddings, and funerals. My mother would drop me off at a relative's house and I'd play with my cousins. It gave me a sense of stability. I raised my kids 2000 miles away from where I grew up, and my childhood family are just stories to my children. As a teacher also, I heard so many stories of kids not having the support I had growing up.
