EXPLAINED: 2026 mlb all star game live updates highlights analysis | Vintage Vibes

The Midsummer Classic has arrived.

Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa., takes center stage for the game's brightest stars and plays host to the 96th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night, with the contest set to begin at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. The game took a bit of a watchability hit with the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Jacob Misiorowski and Paul Skenes, among others, not suiting up due to injuries or pitching schedules.

But the American and National League rosters are still loaded with plenty of talents, such as the game's best hitter right now in Yordan Alvarez of the Astros and arguably the game's next best hitter in Juan Soto of the Mets. Plus, the pitching matchup will pit one of the sport's best swing-and-miss hurlers in Dylan Cease of the Blue Jays vs. one of the most dominant left-handed starting pitchers in the game, the Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez, who will be toeing the rubber in front of the hometown fans.

With the birthplace of America—and a hitter-friendly ballpark—as the host, the 2026 All-Star Game should provide plenty of celebration for the country's 250th birthday, and yes, perhaps a few fireworks at the dish. So follow along for highlights and analysis as we cover the 96th All-Star Game live.

2026 MLB All-Star Game lineups

The lineups are set for the All-Star game, and they are both loaded. The Phillies have six guys on the National League roster, and three of them will start the game. The other three will almost certainly get into the game.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts put the NL's lineup together and decided to lead things off with a treat for the locals. Kyle Schwarber will DH and be the first hitter for the National League. The team's full lineup follows.

  • Kyle Schwarber, DH
  • Juan Soto, LF
  • Freddie Freeman, 1B
  • CJ Abrams, SS
  • Max Muncy, 3B
  • Ozzie Albies, 2B
  • Brandon Marsh, RF
  • Andy Pages, CF
  • Drake Baldwin, C
  • Cristopher Sánchez, SP

Blue Jays manager John Schneider turned in the American League’s lineup and, like Roberts, he had something for the locals as Angels outfielder Mike Trout is leading off. The AL’s starters are below.

  • Mike Trout, CF
  • Yordan Alvarez, DH
  • Shea Langeliers, C
  • Junior Caminero, 3B
  • Bobby Witt Jr, SS
  • Cody Bellinger, RF
  • Ben Rice, 1B
  • Riley Greene, LF
  • Ernie Clement, 2B
  • Dylan Cease, SP

All-Star Game starting pitcher matchup

Toronto righty Dylan Cease and Philadelphia lefty Christoper Sánchez will start for the AL and NL respectively.

Cease enters the break 6–4 with a 2.62 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and 148 strikeouts in 91 1/3 innings over 17 starts.

Sánchez is 11–4 with a 2.62 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 144 strikeouts against 25 walks in 127 1/3 innings.

Sánchez (4.0) and Cease (3.7) rank second and third among MLB pitchers in fWAR. They both trail Brewers righty Jacob Misiorowski who was scratched from his final start of the first half and is out for the game.
