Press conferences can be used to get messages to players as well as the public via the media, but don’t count on reaching Crysencio Summerville that way. Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has spoken a lot about his in-form winger across the past week, and much of it has been an honest acknowledgement of what the 21-year-old still needs to improve on.
Marsch has not painted a misguiding picture about Summerville or where he is at in his career. Punctuality, professionalism and work ethic have all been flagged as aspects the attacker can still work on at Thorp Arch.
That was pitched in stark contrast to the road Summerville’s close friend, Wilfried Gnonto, has taken in the game. The 19-year-old has been trumpeted as a model professional by Marsch and someone who can perhaps rub off on his Dutch counterpart.
