Anna Sorokin, whose crimes of grand larceny and theft of services were dramatized in the Netflix miniseries, "Inventing Anna,"(staring Julia Garner) wrote a letter from the NY correctional facility she's held in to rail against the US immigration system.

Born in Russia, Sorokin opens her letter saying "I am used to being in places I want to get out of. Metaphorically and literally. This cell where I have spent 18 months foundering in the sinkhole of America's immigration system checks off both of those boxes."
