Australian shares continue to gain ground as dwindling trade war headlines help bring stability to markets after weeks of tariff-induced volatility.

The S&P/ASX200 pared early gains to finish up 28.9 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 7,997.1, as the broader All Ordinaries lifted 28.8 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 8,203.9.
