Happily, Amazon thinks nothing about me because it doesn’t know me (I’ve seen what Amazon thinks about me – and it revealed a depressing truth, 11 October). I’ve boycotted Amazon for as long as I can remember, and I can promise anybody thinking of taking this step that your life will be richer without it. So, Emma Beddington, please take that step, boycott Amazon – it’s the single most powerful ethical step you can take, and it’s surprisingly easy.

• Curious that Robert Jenrick thinks Kemi Badenoch appeals to those who complain about being unable to find ingredients for Ottolenghi recipes in their local supermarket (Robert Jenrick launches scathing broadside against ‘Kensington Kemi’, 9 October). Isn’t that the preserve of Guardian readers, few of whom, I would hazard a guess, are Tory supporters?
