The Booker Prize trophy has been named ‘Iris’, after a public voting that took place earlier this year.
In January 2023, the Booker Prize Foundation invited the public to suggest names for the trophy. Almost 800 people suggested names, including those of authors past and present, ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian goddesses, and muses. From these 800 suggestions a panel of judges selected the top six names and they further asked people to vote for the winning-name on the Booker Prizes' website.
