Imagine an ordinary classroom - except for one thing: the teacher standing before the class has never been a student herself. She has never sat nervously before an exam, worried about disappointing her parents, struggled with a difficult chapter late at night, or felt the joy of finally understanding something that once seemed impossible.
Her name is Sally, and she's an AI-powered humanoid robot developed by Toronto-based Realbotix. She was expected to help teach coding, robotics and AI at a high school in Salamanca, New York State. The plan has since been shelved after concerns over privacy and data collection. That pause may delay Sally, but it's unlikely to delay the future. AI, like it or not, is steadily entering classrooms.
