Australia will launch their defence of the cricket World Cup in South Africa next year with a blockbusting opener against India, the powerhouse outfit they defeated to win the crown in 2023.
As the fixtures for the 2027 event in three southern African nations were unveiled on Thursday, Pat Cummins' side learned they'll take on the title favourites and world's current No.1 side on October 7 in a mouth-watering curtain-raiser in Cape Town.
Both teams will also feature in a potentially explosive group A with Pakistan, which also sets up a potentially tension-filled preliminary clash between the two great feuding Asian rivals, especially if India lose again to their 2023 Ahmedabad conquerors.
