OpenAI is expanding its ChatGPT browser integration, allowing users to ask questions about open tabs and, with additional setup, have the AI carry out tasks on websites.

Announced in a post on X on 16 October 2026, the update expands ChatGPT's browser capabilities with tab context, browser control and a side panel that brings conversations alongside the webpage.
